high speed Electrical TesterBy combining the worldwide mostly used turret system testhandler to the fastest, very powerful and, flexible tester in the marketplace, ISMECA is offering a fully integrated solution, which provides the best TCOO (Total cost of ownership) to the Discrete components assemblers.

ITEC, (Industrial Technology and Engineering Center) is an organization of Philips Semiconductors with a team of 90 employees. It develops, manufactures and markets device packages and production equipment for assembly, testing and shop-floor control of low pin-count semiconductors.

With over 350 testers in the field, this Company based in Nijmegen (Netherlands), offers 25 years of expertise in Tester manufacturing including many up to date technical features: open access via software to define parameters, high speed measurements by using pin electronics, parallel processing architecture allowing to serve up to 4 fast handlers.

Ismeca, thanks to its long established sales and service network, will fully support the testers in the field.

With this new partnership, the main objective is to offer a comprehensive integrated solution, which includes pre-testing of both, modules, tester and handler. This is, in our days, the only way to cut down service support while starting up a new back-end line and the only direction to gain valuable production time and quick volume ramp-up during the startup phase.

Ismeca Automation, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of turn-key assembly equipment, has developed a compact, flexible NC driven tube coiling system for tube set assemblies.

Small and easily integrated onto either Ismeca’s rotary or linear indexing platforms, the device is can operated at 40 cycles per minute, and handles coil diameters from 25 to 75 mm with from 1 to 12 spires.

Ismeca Semiconductor to Acquire PacVision Products from Agilent Acquisition Will Strengthen Ismeca Semiconductor's Position in Device Inspection Solutions

The transaction is based on a agreement to acquire the PacVision device inspection products from Agilent's Singapore Vision operation. The transaction is expected to close by the end of June, subject to closing conditions. Financial details were not dis-closed. After the closing, the PacVision Products will become part of Ismeca Semicon-ductor Products Group. With these additional products Ismeca Semiconductor's market position in device inspection solutions will be significantly strengthened.

Ismeca Introduces New Wafer-to-Tape 32 Series That Integrates All Finishing Operations For Wafer-state Components

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – Ismeca will exhibit for the first time in the USA an innovative new single system approach for the integration of all backend handling operations for components in wafer-state formats, such as CSPs, QFNs, LLPs, molded L/F packages on foil and bumped or unbumped bare die.

The WT32 is based on Ismeca’s proven M32 turret architecture, which has already become the industry leader for flexible integration of multi-function handling tasks at high speeds. By integrating an innovative new wafer handling mechanism into the mature M32 platform, Ismeca engineers have quickly leveraged the M32’s solid technology base to solve the challenge of backend finishing for components in wafer-based formats, while simultaneously minimizing costs and maximizing quality.

The WT32 is optimized for handling small size devices, from 0.5mm x 0.5mm, with sustained throughput speeds as high as 15,000 parts per hour, depending on specific device types and test times. These overall high throughput rates are made possible in part through the incorporation of an ingenious patented “flipper” module that can accurately flip devices at speeds of up to 18,000 pph, thereby resolving one of the key challenges involved with efficiently integrating both inspection and test functions. The WT32 also incorporates multiple cameras with a high-precision, high-speed vision system for die alignment, surface inspection, ball check, device orientation, mark inspection and final QC test.

According to Beat Siegrist the CEO of Ismeca Semiconductor, “The WT32 tape handler supports integration of a full spectrum of backend operations for test, marking, and inspection of molds, surfaces or marking. The WT32’s test capabilities include dedicated Kelvin test stations for contacting devices such as QFNs as well as an optional multi-station turntable for bare die testing. The multi-station bare die test module uses an efficient single clamping mechanism along with probe cards to provide reliable contact with test points.

    Other key features and capabilities of the WT32 include:
  • Processing of wafer sizes from 4 to 8 inches – with wafer mapping
  • Cassette loader with capacity for up to 25 wafers
  • Optional dual tape & reel output modules for continuous machine utilization
The Wafer-to-Tape 32 Series uses a standards-based programming environment with all machine control functions built around the open and user-friendly MMI-based Windows NT system, including an intuitive man/machine interface, touch screen, full remote control through Internet connectivity and conformity to the SEMI E95 – 0200 Standard.

Ismeca Introduces Power 12K System optimized for Backend Handling of Power Devices with Sustained Throughput of Up to 12,000 UPH

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland - Ismeca has announced the introduction of an innovative new "Power 12K" handling platform that is optimized for the demanding requirements of handling a wide range of power devices, including the provision of robust test contacts, optimized for power testing. Based upon Ismeca's field-proven and industry-leading NT16 machine architecture, the Power 12K system includes newly designed clamping and contacting mechanisms that allow efficient, highly reliable interfaces particularly to meet the requirements for power MOSFET testing, including the most demanding low Rds(on) and Avalanche energy tests. By blending specialized contacts for power components with the inherent handling efficiency of the NT16, Power 12K is able to deliver sustained throughput rates of up to 12,000 units per hour (UPH) with per-device test times of 200 ms.

The Power 12K comprehensively integrates all backend processing steps, including input from a trim-and-form machine or from tube loader, followed by testing, laser marking, 3D vision inspection, mold inspection and output to tape-and-reel or tubes. Integration of all backend-handling processes on the compact multi-function NT16 platform, measuring only 1.6m by 1.7m, allows manufacturers of power components to conserve precious production floor space and resources, while maximizing efficiency and throughput.

In addition to the NT16-based Power 12K's inherent advantages as a fast and highly flexible multi-function handler for power discrete components, Ismeca has also gone the extra step to offer full turnkey solutions, in conjunction with ipTEST's Mostrak system. These ready-to-deploy turnkey platforms enable power device manufacturers to move immediately into full operation, without needing to integrate separate test equipment on the production floor.

Mostrak can be configured for both Production and in-line QA testing at the full speed of the Power 12K.

The Power 12K system is capable of handling a complete range of devices, including TO-220, D2-Pack, D-Pack, I-Pack and others. The core system can be used with a number of available vision system options, including a new revolutionary solution that provides high accuracy for leads compliance and/or mold quality and can detect even the smallest integrity defects on each device. All of the Power 12K's programming and machine control functions are implemented in the Windows NT environment, which allows for simple operator access and an efficient, easy-to-learn user interface.

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland - The last month has been a very active period for innovations in the semiconductor equipment business with Ismeca continuing to extend its leadership position in backend finishing solutions through the introduction of two new products.

NK16 "Kobo" Series
Building upon the success of the well-known and field-proven NT16 model, Ismeca has now extended its performance leadership in the handling of discrete devices through the introduction of the new ultra high-speed NK16 "Kobo" series. For several years, the NT16 has led the industry in single-up processing machines with sustained speeds in the 20'000 Uph range. The introduction of the NK16 "Kobo" has now pushed this standard of excellence even higher by delivering speeds in the 30'000 Uph range. In addition, the NK16 provides advantages in terms of user friendly operation, with a complete new operating system based on Windows 2000 and MMI compatibility with the SEMI-E950200 standard. The "Kobo" series simultaneously pushes performance higher and the cost of ownership lower, thereby giving device manufacturers an additional competitive edge. LTM Series
As announced at Semicon Singapore, Ismeca has purchased the Tray Scan business line from IC Equipment (ICE), which now forms the core of Ismeca's new LTM series. The machines cover a full spectrum of tray to tray and tape and reel machines. With this move Ismeca has further extended and consolidated its leadership as the major player spanning the entire market segment for comprehensive semiconductor finishing solutions. "With this agreement, Ismeca has immediately established a strong position in the tray scan business to complement the rest of our extensive product offerings. The blending of efficient, rapid-response machine production in Singapore and the excellence of Swiss engineering makes this acquisition an unbeatable combination" said Beat Siegrist.
As part of the agreement, ICE becomes an OEM supplier to Ismeca, which will market and take control of the full range of LTM machines, currently consisting of five different models, all of which are readily available and marketed under the Ismeca name.

With this move Ismeca has further extended and consolidated its leadership as the major player spanning the entire market segment for comprehensive semiconductor finishing solutions.
